Ripple Effect: Watershed Conservation for the Town of Devon

Ripple Effect is a watershed conservation campaign sign I designed for the Town of Devon, Alberta. The goal was to get families excited about protecting the North Saskatchewan River, the 1,400 km waterway that flows past Devon on its way to Lake Winnipeg.

The star of the design is a colourful rainbow fish, which is actually a northern pike, a species native to the North Saskatchewan. The bright gradient and friendly face make it approachable for kids, while the text explains why a healthy watershed matters.

From sketch to sign

The design started as hand-drawn concepts exploring how the fish and the message could share one shape. The final artwork became a custom die-cut sign that follows the curve of the circle and the fish, displayed in Devon alongside a fence of fish cutouts painted by local children. It was also adapted into a stand-up banner for community events.
